Dominique Strauss-Kahn latest

It looks as though the rape case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn is set to be the story of the day – or at least the one that sets the online world buzzing.

DSK’s defence lawyers have dug up some unseemly facts about the maid who made the allegations – drugs, immigration irregularities, money laundering – and are saying she’s an unreliable witness. What they’re not saying is that the DNA evidence is being disputed:

Although forensic tests found unambiguous evidence of a sexual encounter between Mr. Strauss-Kahn, a French politician, and the woman, prosecutors do not believe much of what the accuser has told them about the circumstances or about herself.

Since her initial allegation on May 14, the accuser has repeatedly lied, one of the law enforcement officials said.

So, two days after Christine Lagarde was confirmed as the new IMF head the case against DSK begins to fall apart. Don’t forget there were also the stories of officials travelling to the maid’s home town in Guinea with a view to digging up dirt and offering wads of cash to pay off the family.

“They already talked with her family,” a French businesswoman with close ties to Strauss-Kahn and his family told The Post. “For sure, it’s going to end up on a quiet note.”

Even if the case is dismissed before trial DSK will be forever tainted.
