PMQs: Summary & Videos

The House paid tribute to 20yr-old Highlander Scott McLaren who was kidnapped and killed in Afghanistan this week.

Miliband led with phone hacking and the possibility of an Inquiry, lots of sanctimonious head-wagging from Opposition Benches and around the Chamber in general. Miliband suggested conditions for any Inquiry – notably that evidence should be given under oath – something they didn’t bother with at the Kelly Inquiry or the Iraq Inquiry. He then moved on to the BSkyB bid by News International and took it upon himself to speak for “millions of people in this country” about the unsuitability of the bid. He also called for the resignation of Rebekah Wade/Brooks and said Cameron “made a catastrophic error of judgement” in appointing Andy Coulson to the No.10 spin team.

It was very boisterous again this week but Bercow seemed to have calmed down – perhaps chastened at the thought of going on an exchange visit to Afghanistan (best laugh I’ve had all week :-).)
