The inspiration for Big Society

Cameron & Steve Hilton, Phillip Blonde and the rest have obviously been watching too many old films. Here’s a clip from a 1938 film promoting Cameron’s Big Society:

“When you’re on the sunny side just be satisfied
With the little you’ve got.
For it’s greedy to want the lot,
For you can’t have your cake and the penny too.

If you’ve got a little bit, give a little bit
Help a fellow along;
It’s a very nice thing to do,
For you can’t have your cake and the penny too.

It’s the little things in life that count
So start to do your share;
Spread a little sunshine around,
You’ll feel like a millionaire.

Time and time again, all the greatest men
Prove my words to be true,
Let it be a good tip for you
For you can’t have your cake and the penny too* …”

What goes round comes round and the 1930’s are making a come-back, big-time. Stock up on Heinz Baked Beans, yours since 1886.
